A Little Bit of Everything

I hope you all have been doing well this Summer and enjoying yourselves.  I sure have and wanted to share a little of what I've been up to.

I started a new medicine for my thyroid and have been feeling so good these last few days.  I wish I would have known about this medication years ago!  Anyone ever heard of Armour?  Well, if you suffer with hypothyroidism like I do, talk to your DR.  I have so much energy, no more body aches when I wake up in the morning, I actually feel like getting out of bed, the brain fog isn't as pronounced anymore and my heart palps have went away!  I feel like a new woman!!!

Well, enough about my health...here's what I've been up to.

First, this is a twin bed that I bought from FB yardsale and decided to make into a bench from it with the hubby's help.

The idea jumped out at me as soon as I laid my eyes on it...so I knew I had to buy it!

Now didn't it turn out pretty?!  I have such a hard time letting go of things I've made...I want to keep them all!  Running out of room though...lol.

Then I saw this changing table...knew it could be something pretty without much work.  I really was drawn to the knobs though and that's why I wanted it.  I took off the changing station part and ta-daa, it became a perfect piece for an end table.

It's holding extra blankets in the drawers and baskets below.  I found the little baskets at Home Goods...now I wish I would have bought 3.  Oh well, maybe when I go visit again, they'll still have one left.

I bought these crowns from Salvaged to Sassy  at her shop and painted them.

I love how they turned out and didn't want to just group them together in the usual way, so I added them to the top of some candle stands.
Love 'em!

My kitchen counters are something I want to look pretty instead of having all of the electrical things like toasters and such, so I love adding functional pieces that are pink and pretty.  Can you tell that I love plates?  I have them everywhere!

I had this mirror downstairs, but it would not stay straight because of the garage door always being opened and closed.  My bright idea came as I was making 20 trips up and down the stairs to hang it here...so glad I did!

I bought this old Home Interiors mirror for $5 and got my paint brush asap!

Of course I carried it around the house when I finished it and found this little spot....perfect!

I love how the detail is so soft and how everything looks better in white!  To me anyways....

And did I say how I love mirrors?  I used to go mad at how many mirrors my Mama had when I was growing up...now I am turning into her!  I love how the light bounces around with them.

I found this lovely basket stand with white flowers...I knew I had to have this!  Painted of course...

Doesn't it look better in white?!

Love it beside the mantle!

And last but not least..I had found this candleabra at Goodwill years ago.  It looked like real silver but it evidently was just coated.  I loved it all shined up, but as soon as I would get it clean, it would tarnish up again.  So out came my paint brush yet once again!

It's the perfect little light when the power goes out.  I love battery operated lights with little shades.  Perfect for places you don't have a spot for real lamps like the backs of the potty.  Ya know...you have to be able to see when you go potty at night.

Thanks for stopping in and taking the time to visit...now I'm off to do some more painting for a friend!

  1. ou have been busy.
I am happy you got your meds right. I do not have thyroid problems, but I have family and friends that do. Seems like it is a battle to get the meds just right. Such a shame because you suffer in the meantime.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

  6. Yes mam I know your pain, literally. I have been on synthroid since 2006. I have been so down and out and sick that my family thinks I'm crazy. After 2 endo doctors refused to let me try anything but synthroid since my numbers were in the normal range, I finally got a chance to go to a different doctor when my endo doctor picked up and left town. I had to go out of town to see one but I'm so glad a did. After listening to me he then said I have several patients that do great on Armour. I have been on Armour for almost a month and I can tell a big difference. I almost don't know how to act. I've lost 4 lbs but I think it's because I have more energy. I'm 63 and haven't felt this good in years. Hope my next lab test shows. Hope you keep feeling better. And to think Armour is a old medicine that's been around for a long time.

  7. Oh Melanie,
What a sweet bench. I love that so much. I have hypothroidism too so I know how important the meds are to make you feel better. So many women walk around with this disease and don't even know they have it. I want that mirror where did you get it. I fell in love with it when I saw it!!! It is awesome.

  8. Beautiful magic you've produced with your imagination and paint brush again! I love the changes that painting things white makes! Your bench is so cute! I have an old twin bed in my garage that I want to make one from. I only have a hand saw and a jig saw, so figuring out how to build things is difficult at times and gnawing the wood with my teeth is not an option LOL! Your rooms are all so sweet and well thought out! Thanks for sharing! Hugs, Leena

  10. Hi Melanie,
Thanks for leaving your sweet comment on my blog about the deck. To answer your question the deck is painted in the new Rustoleum product that is for decks that is guaranteed to last for 10 years without chipping or fading etc. I water so much out there that the stain or paint just chips away so we tried this new product this year. I hope it does what it says it will. You can have it tinted to any color you want. We did Linen which is a white/cream color. Have a great rest of the week.
