~My little family~

I found this little frame with the matte at my favorite store of all times...Home Goods!  I painted the inside of the matte(which was red) pink and printed out a black and white photo.  One of the cheapest and easiest projects ever!

Our hall....I found the chandi and painted it, added the little slipcovers, pearl strands and crystals, and went through 5 different sized bulbs until I finally found the right wattage that didn't blind us.  The chest was my mother's when she first started out...it fit perfectly.  Isn't storage always great to get more of?!

My little family that gets me through life's tough spots....how I love them so!

Try something modern with something shabby....

An old cake cloche with a new cake stand.....

~Crazy about Hearts~

I have been busy making hearts from plain paper, adding them everywhere I can think of.  Some are printed out from patterns that I have saved from the internet.  This is the first year that I have decorated for Valentine's Day...can you believe it?  Now I'm thinking that they just might stay out all year long.....

Another Wreath

                            The finished product....

Up close on the felt flowers...sorry I didn't take a picture showing how to make them.

I used a throw away cake thingy from Wal Mart...

Cut out the middle and started gluing the coffee filters on.(didn't take a picture of that either, ooops!)  Then I added the felt flowers.  Pretty simple....

I just want to thank all of you that have visited and started following my blog.  I will try my best to visit each and everyone of yours.  Might take me awhile since this is all new to me...but I'll get there.

A whole lotta spray paint, some felt roses and more        coffee filters.  Love it!

~Wreath~

The finished product....isn't she pretty...

An extra bed...something Mammaw always made sure she had plenty of for company.  My husband and I made another headboard type slipcover to go over the original one.  It just wasn't high enough.   It's made from pegboard and 2x4's then slipcovered with sheets.  I made the ties on the side for easy removal.  This is part of the girls room....thank the good Lord I listened to Mammaw, because this bed sure has come in handy.

The "girls" room

My girls hang out in here mostly playing the wii and watching tv.  The chairs were originally rockers that I made into regular chairs by adding feet.  I added a ruffle to the slipcovers for that little sweet touch.  The window is a staple in this house...I have them everywhere!  And that little pink lamp...it was Mammaw's during her days of housekeeping.  How blessed am I to have it thanks to my Mama!

My "Mammaw" recently passed away.  I had the honor of spending the weekend with her just right before.  There is a little flower shop in her town that I bought the poinsettia arrangement from and my mother gave me the picture frames for Christmas with "Mammaw's" pictures in them.  So, it's a little hard to put them away....I just love seeing her face smiling back at me everytime I pass by here.  She was truly one special lady!

I'm still holding on to a little bit of Christmas....so I might have some conflicting decorations until spring.

This wreath was made from coffee filters and tissue paper roses.  Such a cheap and fun project!  I can see the possibilities....

I got a new doo today....A little over four months ago, I was in the hospital fighting for my life.  I had contracted sepsis form a simple procedure two weeks after it was done.  For those of you that do not know what sepsis is, it is a blood infection that has a death rate of  60%.  I never had heard of it.  I ran a fever of 106 and swelled up to the point  that I was unrecognizable.  They had me in a medicated induced coma and on a vent for 13 days in NICU.  Strong antibiotics and an unbelieveable amount of MRI's, CT's, ultra sounds on my heart and legs...you get the picture.   When I woke up, I had missed out on two weeks of my life...all gone....nothing to remember.  My husband had been there every day with me, rooting for me, praying for me...when he came into the room after I was awake, he collapsed on the bed with me and began to cry saying that this was the happiest day of his life.   I could not move my left arm, they thought maybe that I had had a stroke.  More tests ruled that out.   Long story short...I came home, got it working and finished up in rehab, had two hair cuts, started decorating again, was finally able to enjoy being back with my little family and then my hair started falling out in handfuls!  It became so thin and limp.   For years I have had long hair that my husband absolutely loved and so did I.  I finally made the decision that it must be cut to become healthy again.  So I did it, and I colored it too.  So here I am...starting a blog, a new doo, and a new life.  What a year this has been....

Our little getaway from the rat race.....

               Before and after......

Hello, this is my first post,  so I am so excited to enter into the blog world.  I have been wanting to do this for some time, but I sometimes feel illiteriate when it comes to electronics.  Thank God I have teenage girls who can help me.....

This is a little chair that belonged to my Uncle's mother.  It came with instructions to not paint...we'll see how long that lasts since I paint everything.

The before was way outdated and in need of some repair if a person wanted to actually sit in it.  I ripped everything down to the bare and repadded the seat.  Then added a rough upholstry  job and then made a slipcover.  I am all about slipcovers....being able to wash them makes me a happy gal.

Now it has the perfect little resting stop...for now...
