A Few New Things

The other day, I was feeling half way decent and the day was absolutely gorgeous.  So the hubster and I, along with our youngest daughter, took a road trip and picked up some furniture.  A lady was selling both of these pieces on one of the FB Yard sale sites...once I saw it, I knew it would be beautiful in our home (where, I didn't know yet) painted white of course.

Now just look at this!  Beautiful in black right?  But sadly the paint job wasn't complete and not a good one at that.

This piece didn't have the bottom chest but I knew exactly where I was going to put this one.

Right here in place of this mirror.

I've always had problems with the mirror going sideways because it is right beside the door.  Plus the space between the chest and mirror have always bugged me so I felt the need to have something there.  You can see that I've experimented with different things...but nothing ever made me have that "ah yes" feeling.

So today, I decided to paint the mirror.  3 coats of paint!  I thought "what have I got myself into?"
I haven't really had the energy or stamina to do anything for awhile, so this was a big thing for me to bite off.

Didn't it turn our pretty?  I still want to add some glass knobs to the chest and then I think that'll do it.

The black showing through the distressing worked out perfectly! And those little glass knobs are so cute!

The detail at the top is gorgeous and really stands out now, don't ya think?

Not too shabby for a days worth of just painting.  Now I need to work myself up to paint the armoire....now that will be some work!  I just have to talk my daughter into letting me put it in her room.  wink wink

Oh two wonderful scores. That armoire is going to be so gorgeous when painted. Love the mirror. Looks like it should have always been there. So pretty.
