A little "win" for me

This is long overdue...but as they say, better late than never.

A few months ago,  The Stitching Coop was having a giveaway and I entered.  Never thinking anything about it after that.  Her talent at making these little lap quilts just amazed me.  I knew that they had to be soft to the touch, felt like a piece of my past and smelled like Mammaw for some reason.  When I got the notification that I won, I was elated!

Isn't it beautiful?  And yes...it was everything I imagined it would be.

It found it's resting spot on what I call "Mama's Chair"....my chair.  When I get a little chilled, I pull it down over my legs and it does the trick!

This is the way I usually have it, but when company comes I try to spruce it up a bit.

I absolutely love it....maybe later I can buy a bigger one for the sofa.  She sells on Etsy, so check her out and tell her I said hello.

  1. Cute, Melanie! You have a real flair in your decorating. I have one of those little lap quilts (just a little bigger than yours) that I got from a local gal who sold at the Mound Fair (September).

  2. Very pretty, Melanie! It looks great on your chair, too. I've pinned a lovely white and cream one that I'd like to try for myself. I just did my first rag quilt as a baby gift. I figured a crib size was a good first time project for a quilt like this. I'm going to do another one soon for my granddaughter's big girl bed. {Then maybe I can do the one for me!}.

  3. That is beautiful, Melanie. What a nice win of a give-away. xo Diana

  4. It's beautiful, Melanie! You lucky girl, congrats!

  5. Melanie,
That was a perfect win for you. It goes so well on your chair. Congrats.

  6. Hi Melanie,
I have a Mama chair too! I love your beautiful white room, just perfect for a house full of girls!

  8. Congratulations! Isn't it fun to win something? Love how it looks on your chair! The colors are so soft. Enjoy! Hugs, Leena

  9. It does look perfect in your house--lucky you! I have been thinking I might need to make one someday. I love them--I have several I bought years ago from a lady on ebay. Love them!

  10. How do you do this.. I really would love to make some covers and upholstery.. is it hard? I love love love all your pretty things that you have made over... I have done the painting with no problem but the well I don't know how to start with a recovering process.. with love Janice

    1. Thank you Janice! I just taught myself by studying anything I could about slipcovers and upholstery. You tube has great tutorials and so does Pinterest. Check them out...it's really not that hard, just time consuming.

Thank you so much for stopping in...I love hearing from you! Hugs, Melanie
