Welcome to my Madness

Welcome to my madness...once I start on something, I will stay up until it is finished!

Recently I bought this love seat from my favorite site...Facebook Yardsale for $50.  I fell in love with the lines and knew it could be perfect somewhere in my home.
Where...I had no clue yet, lol.

(Not My Photo)

The colors were pretty, but you all know me...not in my home.

So this is what I did.

The upholstery was still in perfect condition, so chalk paint it was.  I didn't do the seat cushion or the backrest though because I wanted to slip cover them.

You all really need to try this chalk paint on furniture.  It is absolutely amazing!  See how the fabric shows through?
I love it!

I made the slipcover from a "Shabby Chic" quilt I recently bought on clearance at Target.  I knew it would come in handy one day. (wink wink)   Then I added the "Cherry Blossom" strips in between the white ruffles to give it some color and sweetness.

I used every ounce of this quilt which was a twin.  But I still just wasn't happy with how the bottom looked.

I loved the legs and still wanted them to be seen, so I added the ruffles all the way around but not covering the legs.  I have a secret, can you all guess what I did to add the ruffles?  Here's a hint....everything is easily removed for washing.

Well, one thing led to another like usual and I moved the furniture around.  The two pink chairs just wouldn't fit, plus the pink slipcover didn't look right with all of the white on the love seat.  I remembered that long ago, I had started on a slipcover for one of the pink chairs but never finished it.  I pulled it out and all I had to do was add a ruffle to the bottom.

Sorry about the wrinkles...they'll fall out with a little wrinkle releaser.
I had an old twin bed ruffle in eyelet that worked perfectly!

I found this lamp over the weekend on a pickin' trip.  Loved the detail, plus it was really old and heavy!

It got a paint job, can ya tell?

It came with an old vintage lampshade that was dry rotted.  I ripped it all apart and recovered it.  It turned out beautifully!

I love using old things and giving them new life once again!

So, you are probably wondering how I moved things around....

Everything fit perfectly!  The girls made sure I kept an ottoman in here for that added touch of

It got a new slipcover too. I didn't have any cording to add...but, I kinda like it plain and simple.  Again, sorry for the wrinkles, lol!

I love this room...I can divide it up into two spaces.  I've had the bed on the seating side but I like it much better over there where it is.

It's nice to walk in and see all of the brightness with the white.
Y'all know how much I love white!

I even had enough room to add another little lamp that I had stored away.

The little flower stand is being so patient with me...she's been all over the place here lately!  But I think she likes it back here.

You can see I have plenty of room between the bed and seating area....plus privacy for guests.

So there ya go...you've seen my madness and it has paid off once again!
Now it's time for a NAP!

A little update on the Laundry Cabinet

Here's an update on the laundry cabinet curtains...

You can see my process and I am in love with the shorter curtains I made.

I had enough of the cherry blossom fabric to make the little ruffles along with enough white fabric to make the rest of the curtain.

They show off the pretty feet so much better and it doesn't make the piece feel heavy with the fabric running all of the way to the floor.

I hung this little picture to remind me of how blessed I am so I won't grumble when I have to do laundry.

So how do you all like it?

Musical Furniture

It all started with these two pieces....
The one on the left was a changing table I found on FB Yardsale. I got it after getting rid of a long dresser that took up way too much space.  I added the two baskets and took off the changing station part, patched holes and painted.  But it still wasn't storing all that I wanted it to.  So then I found the piece on the right and had to do some work on it too.  I still wasn't happy with how much space was being used and it didn't hold everything I needed to either.

I moved the piece on the left to the laundry room.

Perfect!  It was way smaller than the cabinet I had originally, but held everything plus more.  I plan on making a little ruffled curtain to hide all of the stuff on the bottom, later.

But I really LOVE it!

Then I moved the "back room" around and thought "why do I need to store my blankets back here"?
I have many closets!

I moved one of these end tables in between the two chairs.  Now I was able to move the armoire to another spot.
I love moving furniture around!

The little chair finally found a spot to rest in...I tell ya, I've had it everywhere and not been very happy.  Now I am!

And the basket stand found it's perfect spot too!

Now I feel at peace...

And as for the white chest....someone will enjoy it besides me.

A Little Bit of Everything

I hope you all have been doing well this Summer and enjoying yourselves.  I sure have and wanted to share a little of what I've been up to.

I started a new medicine for my thyroid and have been feeling so good these last few days.  I wish I would have known about this medication years ago!  Anyone ever heard of Armour?  Well, if you suffer with hypothyroidism like I do, talk to your DR.  I have so much energy, no more body aches when I wake up in the morning, I actually feel like getting out of bed, the brain fog isn't as pronounced anymore and my heart palps have went away!  I feel like a new woman!!!

Well, enough about my health...here's what I've been up to.

First, this is a twin bed that I bought from FB yardsale and decided to make into a bench from it with the hubby's help.

The idea jumped out at me as soon as I laid my eyes on it...so I knew I had to buy it!

Now didn't it turn out pretty?!  I have such a hard time letting go of things I've made...I want to keep them all!  Running out of room though...lol.

Then I saw this changing table...knew it could be something pretty without much work.  I really was drawn to the knobs though and that's why I wanted it.  I took off the changing station part and ta-daa, it became a perfect piece for an end table.

It's holding extra blankets in the drawers and baskets below.  I found the little baskets at Home Goods...now I wish I would have bought 3.  Oh well, maybe when I go visit again, they'll still have one left.

I bought these crowns from Salvaged to Sassy  at her shop and painted them.

I love how they turned out and didn't want to just group them together in the usual way, so I added them to the top of some candle stands.
Love 'em!

My kitchen counters are something I want to look pretty instead of having all of the electrical things like toasters and such, so I love adding functional pieces that are pink and pretty.  Can you tell that I love plates?  I have them everywhere!

I had this mirror downstairs, but it would not stay straight because of the garage door always being opened and closed.  My bright idea came as I was making 20 trips up and down the stairs to hang it here...so glad I did!

I bought this old Home Interiors mirror for $5 and got my paint brush asap!

Of course I carried it around the house when I finished it and found this little spot....perfect!

I love how the detail is so soft and how everything looks better in white!  To me anyways....

And did I say how I love mirrors?  I used to go mad at how many mirrors my Mama had when I was growing up...now I am turning into her!  I love how the light bounces around with them.

I found this lovely basket stand with white flowers...I knew I had to have this!  Painted of course...

Doesn't it look better in white?!

Love it beside the mantle!

And last but not least..I had found this candleabra at Goodwill years ago.  It looked like real silver but it evidently was just coated.  I loved it all shined up, but as soon as I would get it clean, it would tarnish up again.  So out came my paint brush yet once again!

It's the perfect little light when the power goes out.  I love battery operated lights with little shades.  Perfect for places you don't have a spot for real lamps like the backs of the potty.  Ya know...you have to be able to see when you go potty at night.

Thanks for stopping in and taking the time to visit...now I'm off to do some more painting for a friend!
